EMERITUS
Dear David,
I want to thank you and your staff for the excellent job you did to take a complete mess and turn it into a real jewel. Of course, I'm referring to the restoration of my 1969 Mercedes Benz 280 SL. You know the sad story about the fellow, who began the process of "restoring" the car and in the course of 13 years after completely dismantling the car, managed only to paint the body while losing, or allowing to rot, many of the parts. Worst of all, he created a disorganized mess of the whole project. I was so thankful that I had saved your flyer announcing your interest in restoring these cars. It was literally a basket case when the car arrived in Raleigh in multiple boxes.
The job you did for me is incomparable. The car is in better than new condition and I am proud to drive it anywhere. I really appreciate your attention to detail and also your sensitivity to repairing items rather than replacing them. While any undertaking of this nature is, by definition, expensive, you did a masterful job of keeping costs contained and therefore made it a rational and realistic project. Though I don't get to Raleigh as often as I once did, I plan to have only your shop work on the car in the future.
In my business as a surgeon, the highest compliment a colleague can ever pay another is to have them work on their family. I can safely say that if you were surgeons, I would have of you operate on me or my family. It is really reinforcing in this day of "quick, slick and overcharged" to meet quality people like all of you at The Foreign Service, who actually do what you say when you say. Thank you, once again, for fixing my "baby."
Sincerely,
James M. Walter, Jr., DDS, MS
